Our Story

Meet Liz Lozano, the founder of Conception Connection. In 1990, Liz was conceived by an anonymous sperm donor in Boston, Massachusetts. Liz’s parents disclosed her birth status at a young age. From this point on, she felt confused about what her story meant. Not only was she confused, but she was curious; questions about herself and her donor occupied a lot of mental space. Her curiosity grew, and before she knew it, this personal aspect of her life became the foundation of her career.

Liz became a social scientist and has spent several years researching and publishing about attachment styles and donor-conception. Although rewarding, it was not enough. She wanted to create change and truly give to this community that she was a part of. That’s how Conception Connection was born!

She connected with other donor-conceived individuals that were experiencing similar challenges such as:

  • Feeling confused about their identity and where they came from.
  • Dealing with the potential of discovering who their donor is and if they have half-siblings.
  • Navigating new and old relationships within this unique family circle.

She wanted to connect these individuals and bring them a sense of community so they didn’t have to feel alone. She believes in the power of Conception Connection – A space for the donor-conceived by the donor conceived.
